Location
Llwyn-y-Fron is set on the highest upland farmland in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, mid-Wales. Although extremely remote in its location the house benefits from being less than 5 miles from the market town of Brecon – which has good facilities including a leisure centre with swimming pool, theatre, cinema and variety of shops including supermarkets.
Easily accessible, relatively un-visited and only three hours from London, Birmingham and Manchester the Brecon Beacons & Black Mountains National Parks are wild and magnificent.
The house is a 2½ hours walk to the top of the highest mountain Pen-y-Fan and/or a gentle half an hour walk through farmland to the nearest pub at Llanfrynach.
Driving up one of the least visited lanes the secluded position is enhanced by outstanding scenery and magnificent views. Bordering the Beacons themselves, with farmland below the house offers a fantastic location for all ages. The region enjoys some of the most impressive and distinctive upland formations in Britain with the National Park covering an area of 520 sq miles (1347 sq km). The local flora and fauna is extensive with particularly prolific variety of bird-life.
There is a huge selection of walking options from the house itself – whether heading straight up to the northern ridge to Fan-y-Big, following the deserted valley track to the nearby upland waterfall or exploring the rolling north eastern valleys visitors are able to maximise on this very special region.
Llanfrynach - the local village two miles away - has a beautiful church with1855 tower and a friendly pub (The White Swan) with excellent food. The canal tow-path leading through to either Brecon or Pencelli is a short walk away.
Other side trips include Abergavenny, Crickhowell, Langorse and Hay-on-Wye.
